I have recently acquired a 12ft clinker built boat with a Stuart Turner P5 engine. The builder's plate identifies the boat as having been built at East Cowes by SE Saunders. I know a little of Saunders later history when they became Saunders Rowe, but I am keen to know more about SE Saunders and the boats they built, particulalry 12ft boats! I would be grateful for any information or links.

I own a 28ft Launch built by SE Saunders around 1905, Sam Saunders started the company around 1890's and they became one of the biggest boat builders going, diversifying into aircraft construction. Ray Wheelers books are very good but there is not a lot of info out there, apparently the yard archive was lost when Southhampton was bombed in ww2.
You may see an advert in an old motorboat & yachting magazine, there is a set of these in the archive at the National motorboat museum at Basildon.
