From a light-hearted thread in Shufflebum, the following seems to have emerged as a serious proposition:

Bar: The Woodside

Location: Doune (the one between Stirling and Callander)

Date: Saturday 19 February

Not boaty, unless you fancy canoeing down the Teith. B&B accommodation in the village.

Incidentally, fans of Ian Banks' Whit may be interested to know that much of the book is set just near there.

Who's up for it?

Crivens, how many places are you going to post this?
Sorry, can't do the 19th evening. Am well into the idea though.
Other cultural connections include the filming of Monty Python and The Holy Grail at Doune Castle, specifically the Frenchy taunting Scene.

Been out of circulation for a couple of weeks and hope the suggested swallie is still on. Before I went away, the Woodside Bar in Doune was put forward. Unfortunately Superstrath and possibly other likely peeps couldn't make it, but I'll be there and look forward to meeting any other forumites who fancy an informal pint and a chat. I'll log on later to see if anyone else is going. Cheers!
