So we've got me, Clyde_Wanderer, AntarcticPilot, Spyro, Kenjohnson, knightvision, Billjratt and Superstrath all providing boats. I am now fully crewed with Silkie and a mate of mine from down South. Several of these other boats can accomodate a couple of bodies, so if anybody is interested in a cruise where the weather will be awful, the beer will be crap, and no sight of women all weekend please put your hands up now. Oh and the scenery will be stunning.

Whats up Pete? You forgot to mention that Pamala Anderson is comming too. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif :

Would love to subject to holiday, finance and SWMBO of course - when are you thinking of? Is it even open to uz suverners?

PS, I will wear my lifejacket next time. Dont want the controversy that the Silkie photos caused.

Great.
so 25th -27th April, what time to meet on the Friday, as there are a few flights from Stansted?
I have SWMBos blessing and have checked the flights, at 24 quid each way its a bargain. I only work 20 mins from Stansted and finish at 1pm on a Friday.

Is it better to go to Glasgow International or Prestwick?
What is the best way of getting from the airport to Cumbrae?

Can someone also take my other partner in crime, M*rgana?
(He is seeking an exit visa at the moment, so to be confirmed)

Thanks Chaps

Jim

I would say Stansted to Prestwick is the best option and cheapest. Train station right outside the airport. Get train to Kilwinning (15mins) then Change for Largs train (30mins) walk 2 mins from Largs station to ferry to Cumbrae which takes 10 mins. Scuttlebutt bar is only a couple of minutes walk. Other option depending on flights is Stansted to Glasgow Int, taxi from GLA/INT to Paisly Gilmour Street station. Direct train to Largs (45mins) On the other hand depending on who you are sailing with they may arrange to pick you up on the mainland. I think Billjratt is going and has offered a couple of berths he keeps his boat at Troon which is only 10 mins by taxi from Prestwick airport. Another option depending on what time your flights are is me picking you up and you come with me from Ardrossan to Cumbrae (12 mile sail) I can't offer berths though.
Once we know what flight you are getting we will arrange getting you to Cumbrae. We will not see you stuck.

Ian

Dear Silkie, yes we are sailing to Cumbrae, you, my pal Pete and myself will be leaving Kip and heading South. We may have on board Mr Fullcircle and Mr Morgana who on arrival at Cumbrae will have had enough of my boat and will decant to another.

Excellent! Look forward to sailing with FC and your good self again - and so soon!

My plan is to spend Thursday night in Largs so I should be be available for taxi duties on Friday if required. As regards choice of airport it depends how you're sailing to Cumbrae. Glasgow would probably be better for a Kip boat like Pete's and Prestwick for a Troon etc. boat. IMO.

Morgana and I are to be wafted across the water by Ecume de Mer, shipping as temporary crew, and then sold to slavery aboard a Hummingbird apparently.

I guess we will just get the earliest flight possible, will talk with Morgana to sort that out.

Thanks for all the running around, its really amazing.

Regarding the itinery, I assume we will make it up as we go along? Tarbert may not be a Good Idea as I think that is the weekend that 600 Yotties meet there to sail their boats round buoys in some sort of regatta. I remember someone going in on a "classic" boat, securing alongside the pontoon and giving the decks a much-needed paint. Caused a bit of animosity among crews from other boats who seemed chalanged by the wording of the notice "Wet paint on decks."

I think we will be able to discuss the options on the Fri night.

And then just spend Saturday in a pub in Millport with none of that sailing malarky!

What a great thread that was. If I didn't know better I'd swear that you and Morgana were taking it quite seriously at one point.

First time I've used that thing! Dog forgive me.

I live in Prestwick, and am happy to pick up 2 bodies from the local airport, drive to Troon on friday. Sail to cumbrae(probably Millport) /largs friday or Saturday depending on times of arrival. Do "the thing" sat-sun and then whatever...
Get back to troon whenever you need a lift back to Prestwick.
The 2 bodies don't have to be the same ones sharing the forecabin on Sahona. Oh sod logistics.
