I think tk is behind us - there's certainly a yacht sailing and we've left
It behind. Using a bit more fuel than him though.
One other boat has had fuel problems and I think he'll either delay or abort completely.
There's another yacht south west of us motoring too.

Looks like a nice trip for working up a thirst.
But just a few miles from the scuttybutt fleet, look at the difference in wind!

Came across Lyme Bay today,W to E, one hours calm/motoring then cruising chute n main, anything from 4.4 to 6.8 kn as the windvane accelereted up toward each increasing apparent wind. Sunny like June, balmy in fact.
Chute carried from 8am effectively to 7.30 dusk at Swanage, grand sailing but all southerly compotent to the wind.

. Alas early tide call prevents pub run in Studland this evening!

Re Boathook.
Not wishing to hijack Fireballs adventures , 'aforeign, I wasn't heading to Cherbourg . Yup, had to beat to the needles and only just saved my tide into the Solent, whereupon the wind dropped completely! Only to come up from the Sw a few hours later.
I expect there will be some very fast sailing home from France today(Sunday) with lots if fresh air for fuggy heads, eh?

Myself anchored up in Newtown and playing swallows n amazons kinda sorta with wee sailing dinghy and raids on the NewInn. My goodness haven't anchored in here since 1995, still as beautiful as ever.

Wind did seem to be southerly today so hopefully they had a good sail back from Cherbourg, though possibly motoring to start with.

Fireball - What type of voyage back did you have?

Fairly rubbish - ie boring ... we managed a couple of hours under sail, but I canned that when the speed dropped to low 5kts ... that's the problem with a light wind on the stern and no kite - you just can't get the speed ...
