A belated thanks to everybody who turned up.
Special thanks to everybody who gave raffle prizes and bought raffle tickets - with a special mention to Brian of Hummingbird for the fantastic whisky barrel and John(Old Glow in the Deeps) for his many prizes.
Thank you also to everybody who took part in the quiz.
Because of your joint efforts we raised £127 so my daughter tells me it is £65 to the RNLI and £65 to an arthritis charity - it's a good job she is not studying maths:D
On a more personal note, my personal thanks to my crew for the weekend - Jim aka FullCircle. We had some laughs, some fantastic sailing, and general good times - his generosity is legendary and I thank him for that. He wasn't even too critical of the many bits of Amaranthe which refused to work for the weekend:o

Thank you all for making it such a great weekend - the only disappointment being the people who didn't get to Tarbert.

I look forward to seeing you all again for the Tarbert music festival if not sooner.

Next Time

Big THANKS have to go to:

PeteC for arranging the event. :)

Brian for the donation of the barrel of whisky (which I won). :D

MissC for writing out more tickets. :)

Eamonn for hosting a good session until 04:30 (you know it’s traditional to continue until it gets light). :D

Everyone for attending and making this a successful event / muster. :)

Big SORRY I / we didn’t make it to Tarbert…. but I was trying to be sensible (for a change), and with the burning / fumes / fire problem, a misbehaving greaser and my ignition circuit which fell apart I had decided to limp back to Troon.:o :(

I fully intend to add some quality songs to my repertoire…. and! get the thing ooot of its case next time with PA at the ready (note to self…. must arrive early and share some good curry with the fleet).

It would be good to meet before the end of season muster / festival at Tarbert… rusty-nails a plenty!…. musical critique and requests accepted.

Jim!...... buy a proper guitar… LOL. ;) :D

Well said Pete, a great turnout and one of the best weekends we've had despite the cold weather. Thanks to Tom on Negresco and Eamonn on Hummingbird for the after closing time parties.
I think Tarbert was a good choice for the Saturday sail. There was a choice between Portavadie and Tarbert and although there is no doubt the facilities are far superior at Portavadie once you've been there a few times and enjoyed the the quality it does lack a bit of atmosphere.
Well done Jim (Full Circle)for making the journey north, it was great to see you again and how well you are looking after the loss of so many packs of butter although I thought you might have to reduce the count on your signature after last weekend.

I think I might be back at Tarbert again next weekend possibly Fri night or Sunday night.

Hows aboot Troon?

Does anybody know when the Lifeboat place in Largs is likely to be open?
I went down the other day to give them their donation and it was closed.

Hi Pete,
How’s about a mid season Scuttlebutt muster with the first night at the CWC & second at bonnie Troon. I know of a very good Indian restaurant five minutes walk from the harbour, plus a couple of good bars.
You could then drop off the donation at their station which is manned.
Or better still…. make it a three day event, this to include an overnight at Arran.
OG.

Dont think Troon would be a goer for a scuttlebutt cruise venue.
Not the prettiest of places, well not as pretty as LochRanza or Tarbert I mean.
John you are hell bent on curries, you should really have a go at boiled ham and cabbage far nicer than any curry I have ever tasted and helps to keep the engine running sweet I've not had any problems with smoke or burning smells in my saloon!!!!!:D:D:D
I am all for a mid seas meet up, At the CWC, how about a sail to Loch Goilhead where the scenery is good, and anchor or moor up.

Eamonn, I'm with you on Troon I think the scenery is more important than the curry. But I think a curry might just have the edge over boiled ham and cabbage
John, Can't understand why you would suggest Troon that would be like me suggesting Ardrossan it's not really getting away anywhere. Lochgoilhead is a bit far for us that have to head Home further back down the Clyde.

I'm all for a meet up at Cumbrae sometime in July then decide where to go. Lots of people have things on over the summer though.

to my friends in Ecosse. I have a crew need from 26th May to around the 31st May. Destination Bruges via Ostend.
Pick up and delivery from Stansted free. Board and Lodging Free.
Bar bill might amount to a bit though.

Great offer Jim but that's my week off and I'm planning on heading out west.

July sounds good!

Eamonn…. “Golden Fingers” my crew said that SWMBO’s Thai green curry was on par with Glasgow restaurant quality…. but not to sure if that’s a good thing, it might be just that at 01:30 we were very hungry.
Ian, I only suggested Troon to allow our PC to hand in his donation to the RNLI, and I would sail into Ardrossan for a muster. I know we all like the scenery…. but it’s the company that makes the event… me thinks. :)
July sounds good…. initial suggestion…. Friday the 8th at the CWC? :D
