My Old Mum (79) went shopping today,in one of the big supermarkets, She put her handbag in the trolley whilst she picked something from the shelf ,and when she turned round to put the goods in, some guttercrawling low life (*&^*&^$^%$^%$) Scum had stolen her handbag!!!!!!. I was shocked to find out that she had about £500.00 in cash on her, the reason was She did'nt like the chechout operators attitude when she used her card and she was thinking of buying a new T.V!!!!!( partially sighted so found it hard to sign the slips in the right place!! )They had the courtesy to give her the shopping F.O.C and a taxi home, but failed completely to inform the Police. I was told on the phone that this was quite a common occurance!!!!!!!!!,I hope the little Shit OD'S on bad shit and has a long painfull slow frightening death!
I can see another trip to Kent to sort things out!!!

That's awful mate,...to think someone can stoop so low, stealing old ladies purses.
The birch is not good enough a punishment for such pond life.
And to be told it's a common occurence, I feel is totally unacceptable.

Same thing happened to my elderly aunt just before Christmas! shes 86. Still very spritly and lives on her own. She like many elderly people dont like banks! she had a simular amount in her bag when it was snatched in the supermarket. Police said they can't do anything! its clear that these people know old people carry cash not plastic!

About the only thing they are good for is catching speeding motorists! well they are shocking criminals!

Bad news.

If it makes you feel any better, they don't always get away with it. Couple of years ago I was walking back to my car parked behind a convenience store at night only to see a couple of 15 year old scrotes with a pen-knife the size of your thumbnail approaching middle-aged woman who was trying to unlock her car and impolitely requesting her bag. I decided to help out and got the knife swung at me for my trouble. Bit silly really as I'm 6ft and 20 stone - knife-wielding kiddy caught the full force of my size 12 doc martens in the nads and crawled off after his mate clutching his tackle and squealing like a soprano.

Woman was very happy, coppers were sympathetic but said they would not try too hard to catch the offenders as I was just as likely to get prosecuted for my 'assault' as they were for attempted robbery and as they were under age nothing would happen to them.

I'd do it again though . . . . . . . ;-)

Sorry to hear this mate - it makes my blood boil!! The only thing this government is good for is catching motorists and persecuting people for defending their rights - both soft targets.

God speed to your mum, I hope she gets over it soon.

Yet another example of the victims rights being subservient to those of the criminal. IMHO a good kick in the whatsits to someone threatening you with a knife is very definitely "minimum force" to defend yourself, and the police attitude sucks. This is totally symptomatic of what is wrong with our society today.

The statistics in prisons is something like 5 prisoners in for motoring offences to 1 in for burglary, proof unfortunatley that your more likely to get sent down for a motoring offence than breaking into and stealing from someone elses property, it's disgusting. Hope your mum gets over her ordeal soon.

My elderly neighbour was taking her dog for a walk and someone rode past her on a bike and grabbed the bag that she was carrying. Fortunately the only think in the bag was some nice fresh dog poo. Made the local paper though.

"The statistics in prisons is something like 5 prisoners in for motoring offences to 1 in for burglary"

I struggle to believe that, where did that statistic come from out of interest?

Really sorry to hear this and all the best for her speedy recovery.

Sad really that PC stands for Politically Correct and Police Constable. What will it take for the police to be given the powers back that they had when I was a kid.

Let the Police take em round the back of the bike shed and give em a good k**king.

Well yes, if they used the well intention clip round the ear and a lecture, and occasionally took the trouble to tell you off instead of fining you for speeding, but that when Police stood for Policing not tax collecting.

So sad when people target the elderly, wouldn't you just like to string 'em up, well I would.

My heart goes out to your Mum. I understand how you must feel and I hope those responsible are brought to justice. Make sure it is reported to the Police - if they don't know they can't do anything. Whilst they may not find any leads in this case (but of course they might - most stores have CCTV) but there may be links with others and unless they know they can't do anything

Re: The easy options....

Horrible to hear of this sort of thing - how can the ratbags even think of doing this sort of thing and worse? The 85 year old lady next door had £300+ nicked by some scumbag door to door 'salesman' type. She doesnt dare answer the door now - which is quite difficult whenever we call in to check she is OK.

But the 'soft option' which both the crims and the law are taking: for the crims frail elderly are far less likely to retaliate - least of all with a good hard kick where it hurts most - which is the least they deserve.

And the law? - well the motorist is a much softer target. Much easier to catch and deal with, than the scum who raid old ladies handbags, or those who broke into my boat, had most of the gear off it, and did a lot of damage. They did not even come out to take a look at it - simply sent a 'crime number' for my insurance company.

I guess they are too busy booking people doing 33mph in a 30 limit - as happened to a colleague recently - two men in a fully equipped Police car, loaded with sophisticated gear for tracking the criminal motorist .... while the poor old lady next door cowers behind her door afraid to get out of bed for fear of further attack.
