Well it seems to have worked - we had a sail up the Colne today with a slightly furled genoa (for visibility purposes) and with some chums at the helm. We had her up to 8.8 knots briefly so it seems like the bottom scrubbing was worth its while.
We floated back downriver again at 5 knots with just genoa. A very relaxed, leisurely and enjoyable sail.
