Having finally re-invented myself IT wise (how's that for management speak?) I find that instead of this forum spreading across the face of my nice 17 inch LCD screen, it bunches up in a corner, leaving at least one third of the expensive territory blank.

Fiddling with user options seems to make no difference. What is the answer.

In case its an IT issue - XP and Firefox.

Not a great deal you can do. <ctrl> button held down, and using scroll button on mouse should resize text and move it out a bit, but at the expense of having huge text

But then most people don't need to reset. On my flat screen systems I run at 1024 x 768 and on the 19" CRT at 1280 x 1024 and have no problems/issues with page sizes when browsing with IE6. Sure you get unused areas off to the right but so what?

I'm not sure I understand birdseye's issue.

assuming you have your browser set up to show the favourites on the left, the forum will fill a screen set up at 1024 x 768. if you use any higher resolution there will be some spare screen at the side though you will have the bebfit of being able to see more vertically.

your choice - depends on your eyesight and the size of screen. personally my ideal setup is 1600 x 1200 on a 21" screen, it shows two a4 pages full size on Word, or the forum down one side of the screen and a work document down the other (guess which gets most attention)

Just irritation really. I use Firefox rather than IE6 with other sailing and motorbike forums on other tabs. They all work OK and fill the screen. Then you get to YBW and it doesnt. Not the end of the world but I did wonder whether there was a solution that I was missing. Apparently not.

There are times (like on this issue or comments about other businesses in the trade) that this forum shows the dead hand of corporate bureaucrasy.

It`s fair to say as monitors get bigger there is spare space on the screen, the advantage to this as snowleopard says, is you can use windows to its full extent.
I use an apple 23”alum cinema, setup is 1920x1200 with forum and word side by side
Font size on the internet is ok,
The only programme I have trouble with is sage accounts as the font size is tiny and I have to decrease the resolution to read it comfortably.

I hacked into your pc and altered the resolution /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well, actually, yep. It was all those kisses. A continuous line without breaks stretches the screen. Perhaps we should all include a long line in our sigs. then all the posts will end up filling the screen.

No No Please don’t tell me I don’t want to know.
