Has anybody found a way to resurface the screen on the Raymarine C series plotters, I thought I was being very carefull when cleaning mine but it has scratched terribly, I have always washed it first and wiped it with soft tissue. it is still useable but can be difficult at times.
Regards Mike

I know not helpful now, but it is only meant be cleaned with the cloth supplied with the unit.

If you go to the Raymarine website they do link to recommended products for cleaning - one of which may help restore your screen?

People can never understand why I go so mad when they try to wipe my C80 display whist underway and covered in salt!

Mike,

How old is the unit?
I had the same problem on my E80 supplied in late 2005.
It transpired that there was a batch of faulty screens. The screens ahve an anti glear type filter on them and it was this that got scratched!

Good old RM arranged for Hudson Electrical Services (who supplid the units originally) to replace the screen under warranty.

Sweet!

if the damage is already done and yiou need a fix you could try rubbing with a fine abraisive (T-cut) I know it sounds mad but I had an old magellen hand held with a bad scratch on the screen so you could not read it in the vicinity. I rubbed it back with T cut and it was fine! you could not tell it had been damaged (not to be repeated too much mind cause you thin the material. Depending what the surface is could be worth a go... if its already damaged you have nowt to lose!

T cut can be used as a last resort.
T-cut will remove the bloom, thin layer to help view in sunlight.

T cut will work but it will be slightly more difficult to view in direct sunlight.

I'm not sure if it'll help you with your current problem, but I invested in an 'Invisibleshield' from ZAGG Inc to protect the screen on my handheld GPS and it's worked very well.
It might be worth contacting them to see if it will 'improve' your screen?
I have no links with them, just a satisfied customer.

I found this stuff on e bay for removing sratches from the screens of i pods etc. Worked a dream. Cant remember what its called though. You should be able to find out by searching under " i pod screen scratch remover"

thanks for that URL looks very interesting, I see they actually list one for the C80 Raymarine plotter. Raymarine have suggested I send it to them and they will change the screen, they didn't mention a charge but as I am sure it is out of guarantee and told them so but they seemed keen to correct the problem. I must say I have been very carefull but I have not got the supplied cloth to clean it with. But I think I will send it to them then.
