Well, with shows at Kip and Largs and I supect Ardrossan too who's going and what would ' tickle your fancy'?. I've seen the boats at Kip and there are some impressive ones there and over 100 on show.

You forgot to mention Troon, or was that intentional? Seems Euro Yachts have quite a few boats in the "show" at Troon and Largs.

Hi Cliff, not intentional. I wasn't sure if there was a Troon show, at one point I had heard that Euroyacht were not puting on a show at Largs or Troon after last years poor show results.
Jim.

im not surprised they have had poor shows, there seems to be lack of event advertising, they dont even mention it on their website

Hi,

We are intending to go up this weekend, Troon, Largs, Kip and Rhu all have shows on. However, advertising very poor (even a Google search for 'Scottish Used Boat Show' revealed very little!) - I've had to actively chase the brokerages for lists of boats on show (apparently they'll arrive in todays post!)

Hope to see some of you there

Jonny

Aye But

be careful

We went as serious lookers a couple of years ago to Largs (Euroyachts) and went in the week before the show. The older guy(Angus?) gave us a list of brokerage boats, asked what we would be interested in looking at. I pointed one out to him, he actually, and I kid you not, took the list back off me and used 'Tippex' to add £2000 to the price. "Boat show price" he remarked before handing it back.

I, naturally enough handed the list back and said "hopefully not at Kip, where I'm headed" and marched off.

Brokers? Pathetic creatures.

Been there working on a 40.5' Ketch for a friend all week. SWMBO and myself were staying in the Foresters B&B just across the road from Kip Marina.

It didn't seem very busy this morning.

Just got home about an hour ago.
I have a copy of the book.

The chandley did not have enough of the antifouling in the correct colour in 750 ml cans. It was meant to come in first thing in the morning but as it hadn't arrived by lunchtime I just came home.

I will be going through tomorrow just to antifoul an area on the keel of less than half a square meter.

Yes I can confirm Ardrossan also has a show on this weekend. Weather forecast looks great for tomorrow, I'll be there, and may get a chance to have a look at Kip on Sunday as I'm racing there.

Re: Aye But

Mmmm. Apparently if he didn't like the cut of a man's jib, as it were, he'd ignore potential customers, including a guy from NI who'd come over with a budget of over £100k. Thought the guy looked a bit scruffy and wouldn't have the readies. Allegedly.

We showed face at Largs and Kip marina, not too buy a boat although we did look at them, but we went to have a good look around the marina and pontoons and to enquire about berthing for next season.
Strangely we have always like Largs marina, but on sunday, we felt Kip was the nicer and better marina, not by much but the pontoons seemed to be bigger and better at Kip. Also Kip is £600pa cheaper than Largs.
Also talking about the boat show, Kip seemed to be the only ones that made an effort, with the marquee and having stands and a snack area inside and out, seemed to be more boats on the hard and on the water to look at too.

Well done Opal and poor show Euroyachts.

Cheers

Al.
