Went to "Halfords" this morning to get some bits and noticed some Battery Powered "All Terrain Scooters" for sale at half price £149.99,

"Aha me thinks" youngest son would like one of those, so duly purchased one and took it home.
"Impressed or what" seven miles range on a charge, top speed of 14 MPH,

Now I have not being on a scooter since I was a child, But could not resist having a go !..and its fair to say it "scared the bejezzus" out of me until I got the hang of it !..
Then thought to myself "this would be ideal to keep on the boat". nip off on it sight-seeing, bit of shopping. "ideal".

Now the only problems are >
How soon is he going to get bored with it ? Will it still be in working order when he has finished with it? "Hopefully before the summer arrives", will Salt air knacker it ? And I suppose I will have to buy an Inverter to charge it !.

Happy new year all.

Surely they charge at 12V? You might be able to take a chance - Makro have some cheap ones at £39.99 + VAT. 12KPH. 70 Kgs though! Not all terrain though..

Im sure you are right about the 12 volt charging !
Typical male trait, assemble it, use it, abuse it, then when all else fails read the instructions !......

Just as a warning, their has been a recent discussion on Honestjohn about the legalities of these things being used in public places and although petrol powered ones are illegal, the leccy ones seem to be a bit in the grey zone.

I've got a petrol one, and riding the streets or pavements here is an offence.
That rule applies to batt. powered scooters too, so sayeth the North Yorks Constabulary.
However riding around on private property i.e Marina/Boatyard Campsite Golf Course is perfectly legal with Landowners permission.

Thanks for the legal and safety advice, As to scooting off the end of the pontoon, chance would be a fine thing. Too heavy and long in the tooth these days !..
"One go on it" was enough for me if im honest!.......

Son took one look at it, put his bike helmet on and promptly went scooting up and down our lane, luckily we live in a pretty remote area with plenty of open space, would not dare let him out on the Public Highway or pavements with it.
