You need to use the 'image' instant mark up tag from next to the edit post bit - Click on that then just insert the regular URL without the IMG bits at the end /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hi Dougie

I can describe scarborough as a gold mine marina, they just dont relise it.

Had problems getting in there, after speaking to the harbour office several times before the trip. radioed in from a mile out and told there was no space, even tho had been told there was loads of floating pontoon space.
Anyway harbour did let us in as we were short on fuel, ended up most of the day moored onto a fishing boat, so not ideal.
Far does to the chaps who were on duty as they did sort us a pontoon out.
The visitors pontoon is the long stretch, but realy only has room for mabe two 40 foot boats, as it has not been dredged any further up.
also getting fuel was interesting, fuel is available but need to be arranged through Eves who supply the fuel, the fuel mooring is also interesting as its near the harbour exit, when we fueled up, we had a couple of problems with the small day fishing boats which found it amusing to come into the inner harbour and then go past us as fast as they could !!!!! dont think they like us !!!

I have heard there are further plans to put more moorings in, anyway we stayed there for 3 days, fantastic place to stay once sorted, the harbour lads who were on duty were great, and as were the people who had berths there

Did spent a fortune going out on the Hutton boat rides, they were very cool

Best option if a trip is planned is to call the harbour tower and they will give you details of space available.

Also best not to go in on low water.

Srarborough will get very busy, and hopefully this will get Brid thinking as we are very short of good places to stay up north

Hope this helps, give me a shout if you need any more details

We did find them good as well, but that was before the marina.. Harbour Master (Office on West pier of entrance) is supported by Tide Crew, who's offices are on the East Pier at the entrance. Deepest channel in is on the East Side of entrance, but watch for sandbank directly in front of east pier. LW shown as little as 0.1 - 0.6M on my older Charts, but we were guided in sideways by Harbour Master and Tide Crew, so we kept the props in the deepest possible water (approx 20 Cm to spare in accordance to the Tide Crew. So good idea to be in touch with those guys if you are cutting your arrival times a bit fine...

The day fishermen and other boats move a bit too fast in the harbour, but is managable to live with. RNLI Crew great to chat with and go out to play (practice) at times.... Fun to see the tractor launch and recovery of the lifeboat. Is a good stopping point between Hull and Whitby.
