Hi! Can anyone advise me on the Scandboat 29 Baltic. Had a quick look around one recently and was impresed. Any ideas on a UK based dealer - it has been suggested that there is one in Scotland? Anyone seen one or sailed the model?

Friend of mine bought one earlier this year with single volvo penta (don't know which one) and is delighted.

I believe they have a good reputation for build quality. You will or will not, like the typical Scandanavian cockpit inclusive of galley.

Hull looks a good shape and he has already seen 18 kts lightly loaded.

He is of the opinion that there is no UK dealer, but they do still exist in Scandanavia and have been quite helpful. I think they are on the internet.

Express Cruisers in Lymington used to have the franchise for Scand. Although they still do Windy thay have given up on Scand. I think Derek Lowe of Seakers Tel: 01202 890804 was keen on getting the Scand UK franchise. Have you checked the website www.scand.no

Hi,

I have been running a new Scand 29 Baltic for one year.

The boat is manufactured at Fevik, close to Arendal at the SW coast in Norway. Call their sales manager, Tom Solberg at (+47) 33063244 or mobile (+47)91391980 - he knows "everything" about the dealers, price ranges and availability of new and second hand vessels. There are normally quite a few boats for sale in Norway from 1983-86, more difficult to get some from 1989 - 1996, and again more boats from 1998 -.

Further, it is a half planer, you need 220 hK to get up to 21 knots + a bow truster. Weight is around 4100 kg. We were surprised by the larger size as compared to other "29" feet boats. Delivered with hardtop for steering position or open cockpit. We are very happy with the open cockpit. With the new boats there are quite some flexibility for the arrangements - the 3 cab version we bought gives quite a nice solution. It is pretty good in rough sea, however, you do indeed need the bow truster for difficult manoevring within the harbour since it is rather high and exposed for sidewinds.
