About 18 months so far.

Frame is very bendy in the wind, alarmingly so.

Zips on the doors give up.

Ground anchors hopeless.

Otherwise ok.
OK, thanks for the comments. I'd been wrestling with scaffolding and monarflex and wondered if there was an easier way, but wanted something that I could use for winters to come rather than a one-off project.

I reckon I could get it up or down in 4 hours, might need a hand for an hour.

You'd get 4 winters easy.

I liked the idea of a custom shelter, but need to keep the cost in perspective. I've accumulated enough scaff tubes and clamps to make a framework for free, but the potential for structural failure and consequent bodily, or boaty, harm had me tempted by custom solutions, such as the one you have.

I liked Poignard's boat shelter, which does seem easily achievable. I've loads of alkathene pipe, even if I have to buy more keeclamp fittings.

You csn sell it when done.

Self built tents, especially shrink wrapped ones, some of the cost is lost when you tear it down.

Also, you want to spend your time, its valuable, working on the boat, not on building tents.

I was going to use it every winter to protect the boat and do things like varnishing in relative comfort, so residual value isn't a great consideration - durability would be more important.

Sadly my time isn't that valuable either - being retired I can find a few days to spend on building something, which I'll probably get back by having everything up together earlier in the season, rather than waiting for dry days in spring.

There are various types of sheeting available that are used on scaffolding, the cheapest stuff costing around £50 for a 2m high x 45n long roll whereas the top end stuff is almost three times that.
All monoflex UV degrades really fast, after 3-4 months it will be ripped and need replacing in areas and have loads of holes from where the wind flaps it against the fittings.
A far better option would be enviro wrap, it’s a shrink wrap system that is used on scaffolding that needs to encapsulate the job better.

Thanks Jon for the name of Enviro wrap. I get a blocked link from

Envirowrap

Any suggestions please ?

And I agree about Monarflex. Even the fireproof version gives up after 6 months and tiny shards of plastic fall off the sheet.

It does seem that their site redirects in various directions, maybe they’re having a wobble 🤷🏻
Anyway there’s plenty of companies that do it, have a look at this one to get an idea. I’ve never personally used it, I always talk clients out of it because conventional mono is easier.
