After spending 4 day now at the show some slightly different observations about it.

All the dolly birds promoting stuff tend to be blond with match stick legs.

everyone wears a logoed jacket/shirt even if they are not working at the show.

The guys with those little click counters on the pontoon bridge walkways are now on there third finger having worn the other 2 out.

the boat handling is improving on the try a boat boats.

peeps are not drinking as much as the ques for the loos are non existent.

with little sun you can see peepers eyes when they talk to you, rather than your own reflection in there sun glasses.

and few hats as the wind has blown them off.

but this does make it easy to find stuff as the flags are flying well.

What things did you notice.

They had quality crews manning the Try-a-boats!

There were a lot of Forumites there!

It is well organised for kids.

Its pointless going with a kid as it stops you going on anything!

The Guiness stand was half the size it usually is!

And i never got to buy anyone a pint!

Al.

There is no current system in place for leaving to eat and then returning - we had to get a signed letter from the organisers to go out to the foodcourt in West Quay and come back in - after paying for £15 a ticket, we should not be obliged to spend £5 on a mangy hot dog! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif all the food stalls are the same so there is no competitive pricing strategy to keep them on their toes.

not strictly boaty but affected the day somewhat...

Also noticed that they had a good system for lost kids as Al mentions, unfortunately there were not enough dolly birds promoting stuff tending to be blonde with match stick legs /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

They need more cruiser boats on the try-a-boat - I'm sure a big boat company wouldnt mind sending a couple of demos over with all the money they have, plus the advertising that goes with it it cant be too much to run for a day in relative terms...

Price of food ridiculous .... £9.50 for two rolls

and further more it was utter crap. French bread my a@se, soggy wet roll, been in the chiller so long its like eating a wet flannel. Girl serving the slices of cake didn’t know what they were. Or to be fair to her, they were probably just crap too as they didn't taste of what she said they would! carrot cake was ginger cake, lemon cake was plain cake /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

As a chap I felt it was a shame that the pretty girls in the short sexy outfits (not sure what they were promoting? possibly the show itself) were hidden behind a counter all day, why bother in the first place?

I had some of that lemon cake - a slice for £2.00! I called the police on the way back to the table to tell them i'd just been voluntarily mugged! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Didnt taste of anything and clumped up somewhere down my throat until I had a big cake-slice shaped neck /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

As I report on here every year, I buy my sandwiches etc at M&S in the mall before entering the show. I spent £3.50 on a pint of bitter, which then entitled me to sit at a table eating my cheaper quality lunch.

[/ QUOTE ] They weren't hidden while I was there and one came into the eating area and everyone copped an eyeful.....erhum, so I'm told.

MBMs secret salesman hit the spot - went early monday without kids. First stop Sunseeker, explained we had a 2 cab boat and fractious kids so needed a third cabin. Really helpful SS salesman showed us over the Manhattan 52, then made sure the dolly bird gave us a pack. Personalised Sunseeker bag = automatic admission to any other stand.

Actually a really useful day. Best boat we saw (by our standards and requirements) - the Galeon 44. Woodwork was streets ahead of the Jenneau Prestige 46 and the flybridge on the Princess 45 was 10 years out of date: who wants to sunbathe in a dead bit of space behind everyone else and in the shade of the seating?

Had a good look over the Sealine T50, and while SWMBO fell in love with the master cabin and heads, the rest of it was just bits and pieces. No overall plan. Oh, and not a salesman in sight.

Best thing to do really, but for something warm it would be nice to be able to leave and return as you wish... Also in the organisers office were people with kids, pushchairs etc needing to go and warm up baby food, get coats out the car when it started to rain and other things like that - An umbrella and poncho salesman would make more than sunseeker over the week - the RNLI were preparing storm gear at one point

Adding to the moans and groans here, I took my printout from MBM invitation for free cakes and drink. Well, last saturday at 12 noon they had run out of cakes.
Wife was gutted and child lost confidence in me.

This can only mean 2 things, MBM only bought a Tesco cake or you greedy lot got their before me.

Also, despite all the discussion, MBM DID NOT FLY THE FORUM FLAGGy!

But they did from the pole on the end of YBW stand (I think) above a little speed boat.

Nice big flag about 3 ft luff to clew! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thats the stuff

and where was the Tanquary tent, I was really looking forward to a G&T, I shall have to restock the boat with Plymouth gin now /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If MBM did stickers for forumites (who were happy to meet fellow forumites) next year, we could wear them.

Nothing to do with cake sorry for the drift, just thinking it would be nice to say hello to a fellow forumite at the show. We could then run it down while there /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My son & I had the pleasure of watching two of them climb the stairs of one of the bridges.....SWMBO had her back to them and was NOT pleased when she realised why we were no longer listening to what she was saying! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
