Friends meet me in port to assist and tow to moorings ... good to have friends !!

Tacking through commercial port - not advised - so that is why Pilot Boat came to assist ...

Stockholm Archipelago - truly fantastic cruising ground ... makes all others I've seen pale into shadows ... Water so clear you can see the bottom at 3m .... no fee's, tie up to trees nose to the rocks ... all they ask is respect the environment - take your rubbish with you ... use wisely ...

Me ? I can't wait to go back - but sadly season is closing in now and weather will turn heavy - making a 25ft boat doing the 180nm crossing doubtful till next year ...

For Armchair ?

I intend to go back ... as often as possible - with over 30,000 islands / rocks etc. to explore - it will take several lifetimes to see it all !

SWMBO - who is not good on long "sea-trips" will go by Ferry to Nynashamn - it's direct from our Home Town ... where I shall meet=up after sailing across. Then its explore the islands ... she then hops ferry home - for me to sail back.

The photo's do not do the islands justice ... they are magnificent.

Now I know why not so many swedish people post on forums !! They are too busy enjoying fantastic boating in those islands !!

Re: For Armchair ?

Was in Stockholm on a course 5 years ago. Loved it.

Going back with the family on 23rd for a few dais, in particular to get out of the city and to see the sslands.

Can't wait.

Problem for small boats like mine - you want a moderate wind to sail and get places - but that same wind is not so comfortable when tied up ! So you want near calm then.

This trip was very light winds most of the time - excellent while moored, no good for sails !! But all the same - not to be missed !!

Pot calling kettle black I think, only jealous, I spent 3 weeks canoing around the area in 1982, I remember the scenery as if it was yesterday, scantily clad young ladies, deserted islands, wild animals and fresh fish, yes I remember it in that order!!!!!!!

It really is a beaut place to have a boat ... the likes of Jenku / Svengly etc. are really lucky ...

They were kind enough to put up with my visit and I really take my hat of to them for that.

Next time I will take my fishing gear !! I only had my deep sea spinner stuff ...

As to scantily clad lasses ... yep a few were spotted !! and most were actually sailing the boat !! All waved and didn't seem to mind that "they" were fully viewable !!

But the islands - fab !

It was nice having you here and cruising with you. And you picked exactly the right week, must have been the warmest all summer. And probably the only one without a single gale!

Drool ........ having been there ..... I am drooling to get back !!

Jenku was a marvelous host .... possibly crew needs to swat up on waypoint coords !! but no problem ...

I never realised just how good it was there - many times I've been told about the archipelago ...

Season over here is drawing to a close and trips across in a 25ft'r are not advised now ... so it's next season ... and next time I take my fishing gear !!

Re: SBC cruises Stockholm Archipelago ... sob sob sob !!

So the little incident of the engine failing at end of a brilliant cruise has dragged on ... now aiting for new injector pipe to fit ... while clearing fuel system out of the crud - injector pipe #1 broke of ... and what a b**** to remove old .... a pre-bent formed affair that is twisted round and under, inside, behind pipes, manifold, cooling ... and of course being a marine installation .... you need to be a contortionist, hands small as a baby's ... spanners that are shaped to fit round impossible angles etc.

So with still waiting for that pipe ... all thoughts of sailing of to another horizon are dashed ... and season is soon to end out here ..... /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
