Saw this beauty in Concarneau...

Fabulous.

And a useful reminder that a yacht this beautiful doesn't have to be a gaffer - how much easier must she be to manage shorthanded, than this one, for instance...also 60' on deck...

Gorgeous - but that top picture looks odd. Clearly the wind is coming from the starboard side, but the booms appear to be pointing to windward, rather than leeward. It must be an optical illusion of some sort (or I need my eyes tested...)

Don't you feel that the booms are pointing rather towards you, over on the vessel's port side? Look at the headsails...surely they're being filled from windward (starboard), same as the blue flag? No?

Yes, of course they must be, it just doesn't look like it (to me anyway!). The foremast particularly seems to have its boom over to windward. The staysails are clearly filling from windward. Maybe it's because the pic is cropped, and one cannot see the top of the sails?

Very possibly...I had to find another photo of the yacht before I was certain she was bermudian-rigged...the definition of 'staysail schooner' is sometimes a little loose, or partial...

I'm not certain if the original, Nina, is still around? The photo below reminds me of why I'd love a schooner, and how elegant & efficiently atmospheric a bermudian rig can look...but though the tag said she's the Nina, I'm wondering if she's actually Ninita?

Very possibly she's the Nina, going strong in her 85th year...:)

Looking back at some past threads I was struck by the irony here. Sad.
