Savannah 54

I seem to be having some involuntary reaction to this new trend of swoopy Elan 48 / Cobalt 46 hull windows. Like someone scraping dry muddy fingernails down a blackboard. No idea why I dislike them so much, but I do.

I like the 'atrium' galley and dining area think thats a brilliant idea probably copied over from the Lazzara. Not so sure about the rear saloon doors, they appear to just swing out and probably clipped open, in a bouncy ole sea they would be prone to movement, would have been much better if they were sliding doors in secure tracks. I can see why because that great big island unit is smack in the midle of the saloon/cockpit which would annoy me no end. Would have been much nicer of the whole saloon and cockpit flowed from one to the other without that lump in the middle.

I wonder at the strength of the glass top, thats a heck of a lot of glass in the roof and sides which doesn't leave much structure for creating a ridged frame.

Nice concept and nice to see our US chums going out on a limb, I imagine that's a fairly radical yacht for a home market manufacturer but seeing a few more such as the Lazzara, guess it must be to do with the success of Azimut and the other bigger Italians are having in the US.

this system is the one used on the Marquis 420 SC and I'll bet they will use it on the 500 SC, as it gives a fair open plan with the outside deck area...
it is not a new system, if you look at any old but even new Guy Couach they had this system in the early eighties...

True but I never thought it successful, I much prefer sliding doors and now you can get triple or quadruple section doors so you can open up as nearly as much space. with opening doors they tend to get in the way of the side decks or just milling about and if you foget to clip one open and get underway can slam shut when least expected, (don't ask why I know this /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif )
