OK - after all the comments that I couldn't get in to Saul Junction, have now been down there and quite like it. It strikes me as a little tight (or more to the point if it's windy the narrow entrance is likely to be 'challenging).

Do any 'forumites' moor there and if so how do you find it? Hoping to move the old tub from the Thames next week, stream permitting (to get to the crane!)
Thanks
Dave

By boat. The entrance is 'one way' so getting in or out needs to be approached from down stream and the actual entrance to the marina (after the junction entrance) is only about a foot wider than the beam of the boat. She's quite nice to handle but we used to have an old Fjord 27 on the canal and I can always remember Saul Junction being noticeably windy so concerned the lack of leeway should we get blown on. I suppose best thing is just go slowly so if she does get blown on the risk is only slight?
I'm probably worrying about nothing and after having done it a few times it'll be a doddle. :-)
I quite like the new centre opposite, that was only an idea on an architects notepad when we had our old boat on the canal.
Thanks for the reply.

nice place ,lots of narrow boats and it is tight ,not attempted the marina entrance myself always stay on cannal the (wind) /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gifput me off but you will enjoy the place lovely part of the world

Thanks - as per response to Asher I am concerned about the wind but the security is good. I have the potential for a mooring in Victoria basin but apart from the fact no one responds to my emails I am more worried about security for the boat and the occasions when we have to leave the car although it is much better for heading up the Severn. Decisions decisions. :-)

Of course a much more serious problem, what good is a 'ThamesBoater' user name on the Bristol Channel forum! kinda gives the game away about my experience of the Bristol Channel.

We start at the top and move down /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif your more or less in the middle at saul /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif so good for getting out no 6 hours like me and not got the flooding your have a great time going up river and down to sharpness your find everyone helpfull catch up some time

Allan - thanks for this. She is just outside Windsor, I don't have to go through any locks but I do have to go down a narrow cutting for Windsor Yacht basin. Might not be happening on the weekend after all! :-( I seem to be doomed, this is the 3rd attempt to move her!

dont moor in vistoria basin the boats get broken into a lot there. in saul marina there is a broom ocean 37 so if that can get in quite a few boats will be able to

The entrance channel into Saul Junction marina is 15', therefore with anything of a 'normal' cruiser beam you have only inches either side. The sides of the channel are wood and not concrete so that's something I suppose .... if you're not going in and out too often perhaps a line taken ashore to help guide you in would help?
