Good reception, even when moving fast, but only one incoming signal, so if two TVs on board you both have to watch the same thing. You will also need a sky box, we use pace javelin cos it runs on both 12 & 240v. Raymarine set up we are installing on new boat has two incoming signals so no more arguing with the kids (But you need an extra sky box for the extra signal)
If you have sky at home then get a card for a kids bedroom & tell sky you are supplying your own box (no contract) & there is no phone line in bedroom. £10 per month, but don't put it in the box on the boat cos that's not allowed.
I have no knowledge of the kva M3 so I'm commenting from having set up a multiple satellite TV system at home just last week. Your old sky box will still work for most freesat channels without a card. However you will probably find that "Five" is missing and maybe some others. For this you can buy, for a one off payment to Sky of £20, a sky card which allows you to watch "Five". It's a strange arrangement but something to do with "Five" not licenced for some of it's programmes to be shown on the continent.
I needed a quad LNB for my dish (for 4 outputs) so I'm not sure how this impacts on your kva M3.
I hope the above is relevant.
I have the Raymarine Sat 37 connected to two FreeSat receivers - I get all the main TV channels for no cost. Also the decoders are very small and neat and will run off 12V.
just out of interest admilington, what made you go for Raymarine set up. Was it because Chichester is a poor reception area for th normal areial. by any chance
Exactly right - depending on the level of the Marina the picture went from poor to awful. Also when we went away we ended up having the re-tune the TVs to the local stations and then back again when we returned to Chi.
