Sat phone rental?

We have SSB but some of our crew have very kindly offered to rent a sat-phone for us for our ocean crossings in August (to Canaries) and November (to Antigua)

Recommendations for where and what to rent? Or even buy 2nd hand if appropriate?

I was in the same predicament, rental is extremely expensive in the end I've just bought a second hand ex-rental one from these people callmonitor satellite ltd very reasonable some extra bits n bobs and when I return from the Caribbean I reckon I should still get a reasonable price on ebay for it.
They obviously had more than one as they still have it listed on their site. I will be setting mine up as a pay as we go style.

I rented one in 2005 - sorry can't remember the company but I found them via the internet - deposit of £1000 and cost of £1 per day. Calls were prohibitively expensive, quality of calls was poor (Motorola + Iridium) but piece of mind for self and loved ones was greatly enhanced. Oh yes, and deposit was refunded promptly (- charges) when phone was returned.
