Sat phone messaging/email/grib

We are now looking at coms for our trip.

A sat phone is one option. This is to be linked to a macbook to allow wireless access to email and grib files.

Total cost of this set up will be about £1100.

Another option is this.

£250 squids. Allows text/emergency position and GPS tracking.
Add to this an SSB receiver for a couple of hundred to allow weather files and I think we will have all of the same facilities, except the ability to make a call.

What do you think? Or are there alternatives I havent considered?
