The second annual Captain’s Run will now take place on 23rd July on the waters of Lough Derg.*The family charity event is expected to attract over 50 boats who will take part in a fancy dress treasure hunt around the lake.** The beneficiary charity this year will be TLC 4 Cystic Fibrosis and is organised again by a number of local businesses and organisations.
The main sponsor this year is Yachtsman euromarine, leaders in marine Insurance, with support also from Portumna Marina, Ireland’s largest boat sales, service and storage facility proudly based on the shores of Lough Derg. Last year’s organisers are again involved to make the event bigger and better than last year.*UL Activity lends its expertise when it comes to water activities and has designed the course which this year offers two options to boat users to accommodate both large cruisers and slower boats. Derg Marina is also supporting the event once again with valuable knowledge on the local boating community and helping with the logistics of manning the course.*Flanagan’s on the Lake is where it all starts on the day with refreshments provided pre-race and a prize giving ceremony afterwards to crown the new ‘Captain of the Lake’.
The event will kick off from 11am at Flanagan’s when crews will be briefed ahead of a fun few hours on the water. The event is a fun filled day for the whole family with prizes for the best fancy dressed boat and crew as well as the winner of the treasure hunt.
