thanks

Clearly off the east coast you are out of the direct swell; however a small amount does work its way round.

With the wind in the west it should be tolerable there.

I have used it once and it was quite rolly there.

I thought I read somewhere recently that some Sark vistor buoys have been removed because of a dispute. So do check before you go.

We spent a night on a buoy there in early July. The wind was light northwesterly and there was a bit of swell which works its way around the northern tip of the island and we had an occasional wake from a RIB passing, so we rolled a little, however the stunning scenery was more than compensation for this.

Thanks for posting the picture, I was reminded of why it is my favourite spot for picking up a mooring.

July situation

In July, we counted 7 yellow visitors' buoys, all occupied. There was a heavy Atlantic swell which did affect the anchorage and the local ferry created much wash steaming through the outer anchorage at an unseamanlike speed. We found the best shelter close in to the beach, in about 9 metres at low water. Holding in a patch of sand was better than in the weed further out.
In summary, only comfortable if there is no significant swell.

An alternative beautiful location not too far away is Belvoir on the east coast of Herm. With a reef of rocks on each side it may be a little more sheltered, though the tide rushes through when high. The ground is clear sand and the holding good.
