We are thinking of cruising Sardinia and Corsica this summer 08. Have just seen a note about a tax being applied on 14 + metre boats entering sardinian ports during July and August. Is this correct - does anyone have direct experience of what exactly is involved? looks mighty expensive. Simon

Simon, repost this to the Liveaboard Forum. Also do a search on Sardinia - there has been plenty of discussion on it.

Also a post in the mobo forum will get you an answer. It was mentioned a week or so ago, can't remember who was planing their holiday but it was suggested a tax would be payable.

Just to answer the question-- the tax may be required of any boat over 14metres which does not have a permanent berth in Sardinia. It is being applied in a rather Italian way and it is pot luck where collection is being made. Stick to anchoring and you should be OK. Don't go to Porto Cervo where the tax IS being collected.
