Here is the facts of what happened in Santorini, extract from my friends e-mail

no i had to pay 1000 euros for a lloyds man to stand and look at my engine run for 5 mins i did all the repairs and he past it so far in past 19 days this fate has fallen upon 14 other yachts there is still on going disscussions because hellenic shipping surveyrors where set up on various islands for this problem but they are not lloyds registered .so dont call port authoritys or your stuffed

Hope this will help others.

"ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΟΣ ΝΗΟΓΝΩΜΟΝΑΣ" (Hellinikos Niognomonas) lost their licence/registration a few years ago (because of the 'Sea Diamond' incident, I think) and are still struggling to get it back. A friend of mine who is a Mechanical-Naval Engineer works there and is 6 months back in wages. I don't know who is blocking it (the licence/registration). However, the fees won't be 50 euros even if everything goes back to normal, so the tip (don't call the port police unless necessary) will still apply.
