Sant Carles de la Rapita....Replacement Rigging

I have seen a recommendation on the forum that there is a good and inexpensive rigger in San Carles. We need the standing rigging on our Westerly Storm replacing and could stop there for a week or two on our way from Sardinia to Gibraltar next year. Does anybody have any first hand experience they could share, or alternatively another recommendation along the Spanish Coast? I have emailed Asnau in Sant Carles but I think they are the retailer rather than the rigging firm.

I used Asnau to re-step my mast in 2014 after trucking the boat over from the UK. They organised the crane and riggers and did an excellent job of getting it set up right. Boat is a 42ft masthead rig, with rod rigging. All in cost was euros 500. They also helped sort out several other minor niggles, very effective service.

We had the rigging replaced on our cat in 2011/2012 at Sant Carles de la Rapita. Can't remember the name of the rigger, but he was organised by Roberto. He made several mistakes in cutting the rigging, mainly through ignoring my instructions, and the final bill was way over the original estimate. Next time, I'll do some or all of it myself, and have it done when I can supervise the work.

Thanks very much for the information, although a little been conflicting! I have been in touch with Robert at Asnau who has asked all the right questions so sounds competent. Maybe rigging a cat is a little more complicated and beyond their regular experience.

Hi,
Robert of Asnau looks after my sailing boat in SC. He owns a sailing boat himself and I have always found his services both excellent and reasonable costwise.

Thanks very much Andy that is reassuring. I am now planning on leaving out boat there for June to have the rigging and other jobs done.
