Following actions currently in place:

All threads started by titch suspended pending review. Amongst other things I believe one post contained a telephone number, which is not recommended.

'titch' suspended pending ID verification.

'steve101' sent to the sin bin for posts of an unsavoury and unnecessary nature.

A reminder (polite, as always) to all that we do not tolerate abuse to newcomers here. Neither do we tolerate spoofing and trolling (eg assuming a persona that is not your own). We have reasons for running these bulletin boards and experiencing what it is like to go back to play group is not one of them. 

Once I've had a chance to untangle umpteen posts hopefully I can restore some of them and restore full membership to titch...and when he apologises...to steve101.

That's fine and as soon as I have half a chance to review the posts later tonight I'll be the first to welcome her back. She has my email address in the meantime and so I'll be able to reassure her of that fact if she mails me.

As you know I am extremely keen to welcome newcomers but I don't want a rerun of the last 24 hours.

Not me. I used to try and unscrew others. It was Steve101's input that was the killer for me. He almost managed to trash the PBO BB. Conspiracy theories abound!!

Kim, I agree with your actions. I have spoken to her and advised her to e-mail you giving her details and explaining the action you have taken. Also I have the pictures of her boats and she only lives 2 miles from me in the next village. I also have her home e-mail address. She just got caught out by her naivity.

I am Like most. Quick to take advantage of other folks misfortunes. But I must add. That I quickly took these recent posts. As an inocent responce from a needy teeenager and dislexic. I am well known for my spelling mistakes. I must admit, it is not my best feature. However I still survive and by adverage. Much better than Most. We here, have been noted and respected for years as being the friendly Motorboaty Forum. Tonight I fear. Some of us have let the side down and I feel ashamed. I have a son who is dislexic. I find it hard to comunicate. But he has to try ten times harder than the rest of us, just to get by. Never the less, he has a good job. And is putting alot of effort into getting an even better job. Maybe Yours??

I think the point has been made now..........

Ok guy's. Look I probably started this because I new she was for real. You guy's didn't and somewhat understandably thought it was a wind up. She is quite severely dyslexic and this reflects in her writing style. Unfortunately she also appears a bit naive but this again may be because it isn't just confined to what you write. Also unfortunately, a lot of people think that dysexia=stupid. Well I have never met a stupid dyslexic person yet. My wife is dyslexic and achieved a BA(Hons) degree from Cambridge 2 years ago. Titch had been looking at this site and thought it had nice people and decided to join in.
The thing is that this site does have nice people. I have not been a member for very long as I have only just got into boating myself, but I see a group of intelligent, witty and friendly individuals who for the most part are willing to help anyone and this is what it should be like.
So, time to stop the Self Flagellation?? (aw why, I hear some say) and get back to enjoying the website. Titch'll be fine. Kim will sort it.
Ps. I hope steve101 will be too.

In a nutshell...

many posts by newbie Titch, helped at first by other members. Messages seemed a bit badly thought out and some naive seeming questions asked. I suggested that titch may be a wind-up merchant a la BarryD with MVII but was told by h00 via PM that titch was geniune. I backed off, but as h00 couldn't send a PM to everyone, a bun fight ensued.

Then steve101 turned up being v rude and explicit to titch too.

Kim is sorting it tho, being the good host he is!

thanks for the summary....

there really is no excuse for having a go - and ironically it is the people who deserve it that can handle it - I got no end of a ribbing for sinking my new boat, and Piers no doubt has had a couple of comments regarding diesel and water to name but a couple.
The best response to a suspected spoof is to ignore it - everyone hates being ignored.

Seems a very sensible course of action by our venerable forum 'controller' - and I hope titch recovers.

Have emailed titch directly and told her not to panic and that Kim is being protective over new members and wanted to make sure she was genuine.

Agree with all the above - she is a newbie to motor boating, excited about her new toy and wanted some advice, some questiosn may have been a littel naieve (sp?) but her intentions were straight.

Sometimes though this site is frequented by low tolerance people that feel it necessary to have a go at repetitive questions or similar...

I think one of the strenghts of this forum is the broadness of its members, some have been doign it for years, others are looking for their first boat, some have bought their first and have asked for advice.

Personal and offensive slagging matches shoudl be kept at bay... until the members sense of humour is known!

Haydn, tcm, BarryD and Byron (to name a few) haave been posting sarcastic and humouress messages here for ages.. and usually no one takes offence. If one does, they are usually the first to apologise - but it does take time to know these guys and their style of posting.

Keep it friendly guys... if someone thinks that the questions are below them.. then don't reply!

All IMHO of course.. and as BarryD woudl say FWIW!
