Might be a tricky question to answer. Got to sand my teak decks after caulking them, going to use a 150mm orbital sander with a 80 grit paper. Just tying to work out how many discs I will need to take with me as the boat is not in the UK. Boat is a centre cockpit 14x5m beam yacht so if anyone has done a similar job on a similar size yacht/boat. How many discs did you use?

Would not use an orbital through choice. Half sheet sander with 120 grit unless the caulking is really proud then you might have to use 60 or 80 to start. Hand sanding using a block for the bits the sander won't reach. Take lots of sheets with you, can be bought by the metre.

I wouldnt use either half sheet sanders or belt sanders I have always used either a Festo or Bosch dual action disc sander. Chisel off the excess caulking with a sharp chisel at a 45 degree angle to the length of the seam, then use the sander with a variety of disc grits starting with 80 grit and finishing with 120g. You will use a lot of discs so take a box of each grit.
