Has any one used the new Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1 2019 32GB with Navionics?
Has it a build in GPS and how well does it work?
My IPad is almost on the way out so looking for a cheaper option.

Thanks

This may not be helpful, but I had an old style one, without GPS and found it took a long time to charge, poor battery life and it gave up the ghost just short of three years old.
The performance of my Huawei is much better, but I don't know about GPS or what they are doing about the US/Android thing.

It does say it has location service , but as far as I know that's not GPS , in other words it works off phone towers which isn't much good if your miles out at sea, or have I got that wrong ?

I run Navionics on a Samsung 8' Galaxy Tab S2 (SM-T715), a Samsung S8 Phone (SM-G950F) and a Samsung 10.1' Galaxy Tab A (SM-T210) - the one in the picture.

All have GPS and all work very well with Navionics. Remember to turn off Android location "improved accuracy" so the tablet is GPS only and doesn't use google location enhancement based on WiFi & BT etc..

Only really suitable for indoor use, they don't like rain on the touch screen and are difficult to see in bright mediteranean sunshine - I have a standard plotter at the helm.

A cheap holder can be made from a tablet case with the front flap cut off and the plastic back screwed to a flat surface with countersunk screws. (as in the picture). Charging over a USB cable in-situ.

Samsung on offer at £149 at John Lewis with 2 year warranty. Probably buying one later today to replace wife’s trusty Hudl

I might do the same to replace my non-trusty Hudl-1 with the annoying habit of losing sensitivity of bottom portion of touch-screen with the useful features (not the Tesco icon!)...

(But which runs Navionics at a sedate pace.)

Mike.

I have a Samsung 8" Tab which is about 6 years old now. I've replaced the battery once, Great bit of kit, excellent camera. Runs navionics well. When it packs in I'll def buy another newer version
