We are thinking about options for over wintering this year and one of our options will be the above marina.
Can any forumites give me up-to-date information as to what it's like. I have obtained a reasonable price but various web threads
don't offer a "good feeling" about it, although they are dated last year.

Any other wintering options in that area would also be most welcome - will not be living aboard.

Hope someone can assist.

We stayed there last year for a week, waiting for a spare engine part being sent from the UK. The marina is ,like most in Greece nearly finished all facilities like Wcs and showers are of good standard, there was a mini market which has now, I believe closed. there is plenty of hardstanding ,a travelift and cradles. It seems that the marina went bust at some point several years ago, but is now being run by another company. there is a good taverna/ cafe on site. It is about a 15 minute walk into town, where there are plenty of facilities, like shops etc. We liked it during the time we spent there, but have not overwintered there, although friends did so last winter and were very happy . I will PM you with their e mail address and they will give you more info.

We were there a couple of weeks ago on a 'fact finding mission', as there are so many bad reports of it from previous years. We found it to be pretty good, everything up and running, mini market reasonably well stocked, taverna quite good, we ate there twice. Water and electricity included in overnight price. The marineros were helpful and skilled, especially the top man who is excellent. Some very large boats came in as the weather was poor, and all were berthed OK. The town is very pleasant with good facilities.

Only down sides: masses of concrete and not much vegetation, so it looks sparse but at least there is not a dust problem. Many empty buildings that were presumably intended for spinoff businesses make the place look run-down. Rather more expensive than Leros but there is currently a 2015/16 winter offer that looks reasonable.

Can anyone give me an update on Samos Marina as of July 16 - Caladh how did you get on 2015/16?
We are considering putting Canopus ashore there over winter

BTW For info ... Mytilini told me that they don't have a travel lift at present and use a 3rd party mobile crane for lift outs. It has a max capacity of 12 tons. As I estimate Canopus to be around 11.5 tons (fully loaded) I don't intend to risk a Messalongi style disaster :)

We were at Mytilini a couple of weeks ago and very much impressed with the marina. However there is very little space ashore and lifting equipment is a crane. Apparently costs for this service are very high. So afloat yes, ashore no.

Thanks Vyv,
I was quoted €500 for lift out/in
