I just happened to stray across these books on my Kindle- what a great writer - very exciting (if a bit far fetched). A great read when away on holiday. Also the older ones give a great perspective on technologies of the seventies. I am now on my fifth one!!!

Sure are good... he's a very pleasant fellow in person as well, met him at Southampton Boat Show a couple of years ago when he'd just bought out his latest...

I love his books.
I was idly looking at one of his latest novels at the London Boat Show, when someone came and stood beside me.

" I wrote that, would you like me to sign it?"

Great sales technique, how could I refuse?

Not so hot on the technology of the 30s and 40s apparently.
The very first review I read mentioned mines "sweating nitroglycerine". That's not even up to Wilbur Smith's standards of technical "accuracy".

Perhaps "far fetched" covers that?

;)

Sadly I was reminded of these books a week ago...carbon front beam failure on a large racing cat resulting in a high speed crash and a fatality...:(

Well I have now read about five of them in about as many weeks, but I am travelling on work so it is a great escape when stuck in a hotel... Great reads...
