It really depends on what you mean re salvage ,
Where you are located and how much travelling your prepared to do .
I hate paying over the top for a boat because lets be honest about it you can never ever be sure if it's right ,if the boats out then you can check the hull but do you if it's wood
prod about for soft planking which can easily damage the paint / upset the vendor
in the process / make it necessary to repaint because you wanted to check it properly
If it's steel how much welding does it need !!
If it's grp what's under the antifoul !!
Engines gearboxes we all know about them
So the price dictates the risk if you believe in good fortune you will come unstuck
The tug I just brought to day I paid £500.00 for it
The engine is ok the gearbox not long had major work so add it up two weeks welding all the kit to do it steel rods paint and so on
I bet £1500.00 will be the end result or could be so there that's how I go about it .
Walk into any Yard look em in the eye tell em CASH !!
most will be glad to sell you a thing that is beyond what the thing is worth re after the work unless you do it yourself
Around the wash and up right around to South End we have the ADD TRADER
every Wednesday ,there are normally around two pages of boats and bits for sale it's always good for a range of boats
I heard there are cheap boats around Scarborough ,up at Lowestoft there's a couple of ex lifeboats that are cheap
Pin mill Ipswich there's a few dumped but interesting boats ,the council has a contract with the port authority to clear them
North Wales nothing
Wemouth Nothing
Canvey Island Nothing ,well not cheap any way
How's that for a couple of leads

Showing my age, I can never forget the last four figures of Foulkes's telephone number because they are the calling and distress frequency on the old MF sets 2182.
