Hi
I have a 10 month old fully reconditioned Bukh DV10-LSME which has only done about 50 hours. I noticed a crust of salt developing around the head gasket. Is this normal for a raw water cooled donk.

I had the same on the same engine. A few months later the head gasket blew. Unfortunately by then the corrosion in the head surface was too deep for a skim. It needed a new head which was uneconomical, so I ended up with a new engine. I would get a mechanic's opinion ASAP. A timely skim and new gasket may save your engine.

Ok thanks.
How old was your motor when that happened. This one was a fully reconditioned one that came in a crate from Bukh.
I also bought a proper torque wrench and checked the head bolt tensions at 20 hours, they didn't take up any.

What is your warranty period? If still under warranty the sooner you flag this to Bukh the better
