Looking to launch a Tinker Traveller inflatable in Salcombe. Shadecombe is handy for where I'm staying, but heard it's expensive.

Any advice on launching and generally about salcombe/sailing on the estuary?

thanks!

The only other options are, I think, a) the slip outside the HM Office but not sure about the gen. public being allowed to use it. b) South Sands Beach - long way from town.
Where are you staying?
There's a decent slip at Kingsbridge at the end of the carpark HW +/- 2.5 hrs
Also one at Bowcombe Creek - probably HW +/- 3hrs

Trips to do from Salcombe town would be to South Sands,North Sands (could be unuseable with any swell running), other good beaches opposite the town.
Up to Southpool (dinghy pontoon) for short walk to a nice little pub with decent food (well it was when I last went)
Up Frogmore Creek (bathing off shingle beach to Port after sharp dogleg to Port - popular barbeque spot as well.
Up to Kingsbridge for pubs, restaurants, typical market town shops, good leisure centre, supermarket and small cinema.

In strong S. and S.Elies on ebb tides it can get very bumpy indeed off the town. Only calms down when you enter The Bag.

Hope you have a good time and are there when there are not too many "Henries" about.:(

P.S. The South Hams District Council website has some detailed info on the harbour.

McNab, very jealous, hope the weather is kind, I always used BoatLaunch website whenever trailer boating. You can spend a happy week in Salcombe so easily, but a drive over to Bigbury-on-Sea doesn't take long & if the weather is very good a potter over to Burgh Island is an adventure...

But use this website and you can find out all the info you need!

(I should add, just thinking about it the last time visited Burgh Island was over 20 years ago in a small mobo... you might want to check it out first!)
