Sailonline website down?

Anyone else having problems loading the SOL page? Just tried to load the OSTAR race page to check a delayed course change had gone through and I'm getting a page load error. Same for the homepage /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

There I was with 15 terrabytes of finely calculated routing data, ready to define the course to a hundredth of a degree which would take me directly to Newport....

"We've been hit by an central outtage which is affecting our datacenter. Should be back up very soon (minutes/hours)".

yes, I have a bit of a grouse going against these people with expensive software that does all the planning for you. SOL is not a level playing field (wrong metaphor, sorry !) and I think there should be a "robot"class for those with chargeable s/ware, and the ordinary class for those with e.g. Sailplanner Basic.

In the short Galway race, one leading boat made ONE course correction at the beginning of the second leg, and ended up about 200 metres from the second mark after 5 hours sailing on autopilot. 'snot fair !

You don't need any special software to do that! Look at my track - 5 minutes after rounding the offshore mark I went to bed - my planned course was calculated before rounding the mark and was keyed in using delayed CCs. I woke up this morning to find that it had worked as planned, for a change /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

In that case you would need another class for those using no routing software.
I thought that was what we were all doing.

I tried to use it for one leg - but it was so bloody long winded that I gave up ... and caught up ... !!

I thought that Sailplanner would help but it's useless without uptodate Gribs, and the interface is very clumsy.

I'm composing a rant to the SOL Gods !
