well obviously it would have to be a mountain goat, in order to be able to stand on the heeling deck
When you have a goat in your garden it is usually tied to a post, so it can walk in circles. However on your boat you need to tie it to the mast - and a strong point near the spray hood with a continuous line that forms a kind of triangle so the goat can only walk in an oval pattern, otherwise it will fall overboard. It would also be better to plant a lawn on the foredeck, although neglecting the teak decking can often acheive the same effect.
Planting a lawn on the foredeck was an idea I had for the dog to pee on. I wondered if astroturf would fool her. I suppose a tleast the goat could eat the real grass. ( would also probably try to eat the plastic grass as well)

No, but I've sailed to a small island in the Dodecanese where you had to radio ahead to let them know how many persons were on board so they knew what size goat to dispatch for dinner. Slightly unnerving eating crunchy goat with the mother and sibs bleating in the field next to the Taverna. "Of course we're not eating goat" was treated with great suspicion by the childrennnnn
