Hello!
Apologies for the late issuance of this forecast; I was waiting for the latest forecast data as there has been so much uncertainty in how much rain and wind there would be in the eastern UK. There’s still some doubt in the detail, more below.
I’m fixing some dates for the next Sailing Weather School (Part 1) later in the year. This gives you loads of hints and tips about how to improve your own weather forecasting abilities and be able to better plan your sailing in the days ahead.

WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST

SATURDAY

The main uncertainty for Saturday is associated with the front over eastern coasts. A pulse of rain (known as a ‘wave’) travels north along the front through the day, bringing the threat of some heavy and thundery bursts of rain through late morning, afternoon and evening over East Anglia and southeast England.
Elsewhere there will be broken cloud and some sunny spells. For most of the UK a scattering of showers are likely to be developing.
However, heavier showers will be affecting western and southern Wales, southwest England and Ireland, these potentially thundery at times.
Winds will be mainly N-NW 12-5kt (F-F4) in the southeast and east at first, mainly W-SW 12-15kt (F3-F4) elsewhere.
SUNDAY

The front slips into the northeast of Scotland on Sunday bringing some rain here. A few showers may still affect eastern coasts, especially East Anglia. Low pressure northwest of Ireland forces a trough eastwards into Ireland.
Northeast Scotland is likely to be wet with rain at times. Elsewhere sunny spells, but an increased risk of showers developing. The showers could be heavy and thundery at times, although there will still be some sunny spells in-between. Gusty winds will be associated with the showers.
Winds NW 12-15kt (F3-F4) at first in the southeast, mainly W-SW 10-15kt (F3-F4) elsewere.
