Hi all,

I hope you had a good weekend and that this post is okay?

I’ve done another version of the weather video, this time specifically for sailing. It won't replace the weekend forecast, but compliment it.The object is to see if we can improve the quality of broadcast (although I suspect this is more a YouTube problem and will probably only be solved by hosting the video ourselves).

Have a look and see what you think, and please tell as many of your friends about it as you can and ask them to send feedback too.

The video can be seen at http://www.weatherweb.net/tv/index.htm

Hope you like it!

Simon

Can we also have another forecast: sunny and warm with gentle sea breezes possibly up to force 4 at times in the right direction on the beam for your vessel?

Good stuff Simon, graphics much clearer . Wind vanes still a bit faint had to squint to read the tails (function of my age and eyes perhaps).
Liked the local zoom in, and the before, during and after approach, with explanation.
Any chance of precipitation shading?

Think I'll stay in bed thurs/fri.

It may be too much to ask but the charts are a little static and it’s difficult to read the day and time from on zoomed out chart.
Apart from that, excellent presentation.

I really like the format, it has just the right level of detail for me and I particularly like the map format which on my screen are readable, if the time annotations could be made a tad larger that would be great. Are you going to discuss temps at all?

Thanks
Ian

Many thanks. A good split between overview and local detail and much improved graphics (though some shading on either land or sea would be a further improvement.) How long do you reckon the forecast for all areas will take? Or do you envisage a number of shorter forecasts for different areas?

Thanks for this feedback everyone, it is appreciated.

My plan is to do perhaps 4 or 5 individual broadcasts for the UK/Ireland, then another for Mediterranean in the summer. I've also been approached by a couple of yacht clubs asking for their own version of the forecast which is a development I hadn't thought of, until now.

Whatever, I want it to be free.

Hope that helps?

Free is great!!

Like the video, but find it difficult to read the Day / Date & pressures on the general charts. If the H or L is marked I know I can work it out but when the center is just off the picture it takes me a bit of time to get the 'general situation' into my head!

The 'zoomed' in charts are good - being east coast based is there is any chance of covering the French / Belgium coasts too?

Thank you.

I like this type of forecast - graphics probably easily to improve ? accuracy of forecast more important too me keep good work up don`t loose pace !!!
enjoyed sailing weather course on saterday -cheeerrrssss .
