If you have web space then you simply upload in a suitable foemat (wmv, mpeg etc.) and provide a link to it. If you have no web space drop me a pm and I'll host it for you.
If you understand Benny Hill, and Ali G perhaps you can explain them to me. I find Benny Hill cringe makingingly unfunny. Just not funny at all.
Ali G tends in that direction - except he's quite clever sometimes.
No sure how Dr Who fits in as for most here its a cult budget childrens Sci Fi.
For funny try Radio shows (you can get them all online including back episodes of some on the BBC website)
For example:
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue
Just A Minute
Perhaps others will disagree. And my comment was not supposed to be rude - just that I have worked in the US a couple of times and 'two nations separated by a common language' is as true as ever.
Oi, John you don't know enuff about Americans if you think they do not understand irony.
Looking just at cartoons (as they get spread around the world and are familiar to many) -
For example, Jim Davis. I am sure you get Garfield in UK. The lazy cat reflecting on the weaknesses of human nature in quite a pointed way.
Maybe just takes a cat to see that one /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.
And then for the cat haters there is Charles Shultz's Charlie Brown and Snoopy's softly presented irony.
And then there is Scott Adams's Dilbert - need I go on /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
As these prey heavily on American life perhaps the irony in them is not seen by Englishmen, but the above are nevertheless syndicated and appreciated around the world. So maybe it is only the life experiences that are different, not any inability on the part of Americans to recognise irony.
Perhaps I've got my meanings in a twist then as perhaps Charlie Brown has a certain ironic twist in his humour.
However I certainly remember making what I would have described as ironic remarks that went straight over peoples heads. For example the English humour using understatement as when its a tropical rainstorm and one might say 'bit damp outside today'. I did this once and the American's looked blank and said they thought it was raining quite hard... Lots of other examples.
Also some words in relatively common use in UK (and here) that one must remember to not use, else get the stunned silence reserved for foul mouthed persons /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.
