Planning on sailing out of Poole 18th or 19th April for 2/3 days (local) or 10/11 days (France, Ireland, East coast depending on weather). One crew needed.
I am looking for crew to sail out of Poole on my ocean-going Vertue, Natural Selection. Short or long trips to be mutually agreed on.
She is moored on the river Frome and has a deep draft of 1.5m, so trips must be planned around the tide.
The boat has standing headroom up to 5'10". Space is at a premium with a few narrow gaps to squeeze past.
I have replaced the head with a "compost" toilet to allow staying on board at a mooring. There is a paraffin stove, AIS receiver radio, plotter, etc.
She is not a fast boat and is a challenge to sail. I have set up sailing by the tiller as there is no space for a wind vane. The rigging is entirely block and tackle.
I am 62 years old and have not sailed her single-handed for longer than day trips. I want to sail offshore through the night to places like Cornwall, France, Ireland and then further. I want to sail throughout the year.
I passed an offshore Yachtmaster exam after an intensive course at Hamble school about 6 years ago. Ill health prevented me from sailing (chronic fatigue) but I started again last year.
I prefer anchoring to mooring and don't like marinas.
If you are an easy going non-smoker who likes a challenge, please get in touch. We can go for a short sail from Studland for a few days to see how we get on.
