Has anyone ever had Sailing Orders?

It must have been mcu h more romantic in the olden days when people like Jack Aubrey etc had proper Orders which somehow magically turned up in gibraltar or Valparaiso.

Also, I bet loads of officials would dearly like everyone to have Sailing Orders that they could inspect, instead of being faced with sniggering slightly-sloshed or half asleep middle-class types who are just er well yer know aimlessly sailing about for no reason whatsoever. I'm not surprised the immigration or customs people are often a bit harumpy grumpy.

So! For a forthcoming trip I have posted Sailing Orders to each of my crew, using Her Majesty's Royal Mail Service and it is my dearest wish that these will be with them on the morrow. Oops I've gone all Patrick O'brien again...

Dear tcm

You are requested and required to post forthwith, such sailing orders as you shall, from time to time, cause to be written, upon the board known as Scuttlebutt for the delectation, instruction and observation of those officers and men sometimes resident therein so we can all have a jolly good laugh. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Good Man
I trust there is a clause which addresses issues of personal hygiene and cleanliness?

I would check that section out with the Oxfordian if I were you - I think he will be a cause of constant consternation
