whilst on a pal's Nic 38 ketch (1974 vintage), I was reading the boat's manual which said "Sail plan .... blah, blah, blah in strong winds blah, blah, blah;, in storm force winds sailing with mizzen and storm jib only will give controllable blah, blah, blah. Jings, thinks I, what does the manual for a present day AWB say about this? Is thur a tick box on the RCD spec which a bureacrat's designed to indicate the boats ability (on paper)? I mean, at least you knew that the builders of the Nic have actually sailed the boat in rough weather which might give you a wee bit of comfort ....
