Do you sometimes get in your car, turn the AC on and get to your boat for a day of sailing SIMPLY to avoid the heat of the day?

Wearing a hat unless you are fortunate enough to have biminis and the like. And I soak my hat in fresh water for evaporation.

However, today it felt hotter at sea than in the house with blinds and curtains closed. Depends upon wind direction and strength obviously. Poor choice or data reading on my part.

The temperate weather of the last couple of days has been pleasant and tomorrow should be almost tolerable. Out here the coast is always ‘fresher’ than inland and there have been times when going to the boat has been an extra pleasure. I can onlly remember the odd occasion when being on the water was seriously hot and that was in the southern Baltic where I was to be found holding the tiller under a parasol wearing only shorts for decency’s sake. The butter converted itself into ghee.

Yes,, refreshingly cooler sail8ng in NW Scotland:) Though still (rare) shorts and t-shirt sailing upwind.

I do remember being in Croatia when occasionally felt like the heat from a hair drier.
Three days later we had a hail storm,
