Sailing in the USA

I am trying to find a company in the USA - Maine has been recommended to me - that run sailing trips ideally of somewhere between 4 and 7 days duration that I can include as part of a holiday there next year.

As a solo traveller, I don't want to charter my own boat, but would like to join an organised trip on a yacht with its own skipper where you join a number of other passengers/holidaymakers and where you help to sail the boat ! Does anyone know of any good companies that I can contact who may do this?

I don't know the answer, but you might try the Cruising World Bulletin Board. There are lots of knowledgeable people who could steer you in the right direction.

You might want to go to this website: http://www.boatus.com and look on that site for information about
charters and email them. The Company is BOAT/US....the largest retailer of boating supplies in the country.
They have a chartering office that handles vacations of the sort you are looking for. I do know they handle "bareboating"
charters....so I am reasonably certain that they also handle "crewed" charters. If they can't help you, I'm sure they

You may also try www.crewseekers.co.uk, this website provides useful information on Skippers looking for crew. Also vice versa. I have only just got to know this site.
You can also join crewseekers as a member for £60 a year, with the subscription I guess you receive a service for crew placement, but for people like you (and me) who want to find out what is on offer I have found it very informative.
