I have booked a 4- day charter in Göcek, 19 to 22 august. Any routing suggestions? Current options:

Go West
Day 1: Göcek to anchorage NW of Iztusu beach
Day 2: Iztusu beach, with expedition inland to Kaunas
Day 3: Back to Gulf of Fehtiye
Day 4: Gulf of Fehtiye-Göcek

Go East
Day 1: Göcek-Fehtiye
Day 2: Fehtiye – laguna south of Fehtiye
Day 3: Gulf of Fehtiye
Day 4: back to Göcek

I think the dominant wind is from the west. Any experience re conditions anyone?

Crew consists of an experienced skipper and 7 novice crew. So I would like to avoid long stints (+25Nm).

day1 Skopea Liman, Tomb Bay , Kapi Creek
day2 east to Cold Water Bay
day 3 Fetiye
day 4 back to Gocek.. enjoy

RE conditions

at that time of year it is highly probable the Meltemi will be blasting during the afternoon and evening. This leads to exciting sailing in choppy but small seas

The usual place to anchor for a trip to Iztusu beach and Caunos is Ekincik. This is the bay just South of Iztusu beach where they run the dayboats for the Dalyan River trip. Personally, I'd prefer Jimi's itinerary and spend 4 days sailing, rather than spending a day doing the Dalyan River trip to Caunos.

Unfortunately, half the crew are german biologists, luckily the female version of that species. Since they read about the turtles breeding there, they are dead set on going there.

Is there anything turtle-related to see there at that time? Any chance of them watching baby turtles emerge from the sand (OOoooh) and getting swooped up by seagulls (AAAaaaah)?
