Overheard in a pub near you:

What's your waterplane area?
Oh, really, and how about your toilet seat comfort ratio?

Blimey chaps, we are supposed to be the adventurous devil-may-care types that other pub users can only watch in awe. What went wrong? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

In a recent post, I had a little bit of software calculate my waterplane area using the accurate figures I supplied to it. It seems that some others made up data, but I know mine is the real one.

My electric toilet did not get fitted this winter. Shame, but it didn't show up in the Comfort rating. Harumph.

I have to say I have forsaken speed for comfort, come and see my gizmos at work, and review my work/project task list. Its at least 2 bottles of Bordeaux in length. Time for bed after that. Also, please note that as I am in league with Lucifer, I can say he cares quite a lot, as we have a heap of religious noise we are trying to ignore at the moment.

An ecletic toilet? Very Hyacinth Bucket. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I shall be coming round to Burnham on 3rd June for the riggers to replace a cap shroud (cracked lower swage) assuming it doesn't fail before then. They have offered a free berth provided I disappear before the next weekend - not bad. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Bordeaux ....hmm

Almost as bad are those types wot can quote every single COLREG article.
Simply really; there's only one that matters : You have to take every possible action to avoid a collision.
Everything else is a variation on a theme.

Easy. GPS, electronics and computers conspire to take the adventure out of adventuring.

I must admit; I started this sailing lark thinking it was all about pitting your wits against nature, eating what you catch and battling hostile natives in remote parts of the world. I didn't realise what a major role such things as electric toilets and winch-covers played. How on earth did Magellan cope? How did he cross the Pacific without fender-socks? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

…and is it true your boats’ performance is seriously affected if your Musto jacket (or “system” /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif)is more than 7 months old?

[/ QUOTE ]Well old chap, I couldn't really say as I change mine every six months - one system for the summer and another for the winter and a new set each time. Do you mean to say you actually keep yours for longer? /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

yes... I remember...

"Brightlingsea Harbour this is Stargazer"

"Stargazer this is Brightlingsea"

"Brightlingsea.... do you have a spare berth for the night"

"Yes Stargazer.... is this the Stargazer that is a regular visitor?"

"I don't know, am I?"

Yup.... anonymity..... thats about it.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

First time I went into Shotley the harbourmaster typed my boat name "Sabre" in his computer - "Blimey, we've got dozens of them - let's start again". Didn't like to tell him that the boat was chartered out of Levington a few years ago - probably got the same boat with 50 different skippers and he thinks it's a common name.

Mind you, I'm used to that: "Surname?" "Smith" "Oh dear"
