Sailfish 18 keel

I live in Spain and have out here a well used Sailfish !8 which has lost her keel, I won't go into the painful details.

Due to her age/condition I am wondering if there is an alternative to the considerable expense of adquiring a keel in the UK and shipping it out here.

I am thinking along the lines of having a plate of say 10mm steel cut and somehow configuring it as a drop keel.

I'd imagine a certain amount of re-inforcing the keel housing would be wise.

Any thoughts on this would be most welcome.
