I'm thinking of buying the new Oceanis Clipper 323, fin keel version, to sail in Turkey. Any feedback on her, especially with regard to sailing ability, build quality and storage below & in the cockpit?

The 323 falls between the old 311 & 331, replacing the 311.

I owned a 331 (lift keel version) for 4 years and was very happy with her. I'm awaiting delivery of a new 393.

Other people I've spoken to that had a 331 and also 311's were happy with their performance. There wont be many 323's around but there was a new boat test of the 323 & 373 in Sept 2004 Yachting Monthly.

As already stated this is a replacement for the 311. I own a 311 (from new in 1999) and am very pleased with both build quality and performance. There were a few articles in PBO about a year or so ago on the 311 and the biggest critiscism was of the wiring behind the circuit breaker panel ........... I would agree with this but it also doesn't take much effort or skill to tidy it up.

Sailing performance is good and the 323 should sail better as it has a longer keel ...... but they are not racing boats!! They are a bit light and not built for force 10 Atlantic crossings.

I have looked at and sailed on other boats of similar cost and size and I would say "go for it" particularly for Med use - I don't think you'll be disappointed.
