I have bought propeller that is the wrong hand can I reverse the gear change as the ratio s seem to be the same and the thrust is in the leg it is a Volvo 120S

You probably can simply run in reverse, although that would not be my preferred solution. I suggest that you speak to/email Volvo Penta and seek their advice.

I cannot see any obvious reason why not. Diagrams of power flow from 'shop manual

I'm not aware that catamarans use contra-rotating props but I know nothing about any power boats which use twin saildrives.

Now changed the diagram on my previou post... managed to snip the wrong one previously

Now wondering if the design of the lower gears will dictate which way they should normally run
